GET IT OUT! (Reader)

One-shot writing and publishing workshop with Caren Lissner.

Do you have a story to tell but aren't quite sure how to get it onto paper, or do you have a story on paper (memoir, essay, novel, short story) and you aren't sure how to get it published? Caren Lissner — whose funny first novel was just turned into a movie on Netflix, and who's been published in the New York Times, Atlantic, Washington Post, Harper's, and National Lampoon — will conduct a one-shot writing workshop designed to help you take the next steps. Bring one or two pages of any type of writing (double spaced), read it aloud, and get constructive feedback, suggestions, and ideas on where to submit it, even if you've never submitted your writing before. Or, if you're not ready to bring work to read aloud, be an auditor and come and participate in the discussion. It's time to get your story out of your head!

Caren's novel Carrie Pilby was published in 2003 and sold 74,000 copies worldwide. She's run publishing/writing seminars for adults and teens in the tri state area at libraries and as part of a Scholastic Inc. program. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in English.
